About Us

The Cotswold Explorer is a documentary YouTube Channel started in 2016 by Robin Shuckburgh and Ross Arrowsmith. The project originally began as a food and drink programme featured on local television channel, That’s TV. The pair decided to bring their filming exploits online, and in 2017 began filming around famous Cotswold towns.

With Robin presenting, Ross producing, and faithful Widget (and now Gismo) at their heels, the channel grew steadily into what it is today, with a mixture of content. Exploring the Cotswolds, Hidden Gems in the Cotswolds and Haunted Cotswolds are just three of the main series produced, alongside short weekly travel videos. Vivienne Clark also heads up Cotswold Places, a sister site geared towards information and guidance to visitors and tourists.

Robin Shuckburgh writes and presents all of the Cotswold Explorer films. His lengthy career has spanned the food, drink and hospitality business and Robin has always had a curiosity for history and heritage, as well as the beautiful English countryside.

Robin’s dog Widget is a cross between a miniature schnauzer and terrior, and is actually Gismo’s grandfather. You’ll see both of them eagerly wandering around during all Cotswold Explorer films.

Ross Arrowsmith directs and produces all of the Cotswold Explorer films. Starting out as a camera operator, video editor and now working for Gerry Anderson’s company Anderson Entertainment, Ross has a passion for the craft of filmmaking and the countryside.

Despite being an unlikely team, the combination of Robin’s skills as a writer and presenter with Ross’s skills as a videographer has led the channel to build a substantial audience. Both share a common interest in history and exploring the countryside, and this has allowed them to continue evolving the channel.
