With Bampton being the home village of Robin, the Cotswold Explorer himself, it made perfect sense to produce some programmes about the village. In 2009, Bampton was chosen as a major location for the hit television show Downton Abbey. It served as the village of Downton itself! Buildings like the Church, the old Grammar School, Churchgate House, the village green and even some ordinary houses were all used in the filming. The aim of our documentary is to take you around the village showing you the history of the real life buildings, and along the way tell you some of the many on set anecdotes from the days of shooting Downton Abbey here.
